Suretank Latin America teams up with local university for R&D project

At Suretank Latin America we are proud to announce our involvement with the local university's LIATM project.

The LIATM project, run by the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS), consists of a partnership between the university and local companies aimed at developing new technologies and improving the skills of the engineering students within the work environment.

The project is financed by FAPERGS - the Foundation for Research Support of Rio Grande do Sul  - and has a six months duration.

Suretank Latin America will be working with the engineering students on a new configuration for portable offshore tanks. This will include material comparisons in relation to new alloys already available in the market, and analysis of the cost sheets for different capacities, aimed at shortening the time taken to prepare quotations and improving cost accuracy for this product family.

We believe this project will be the start of a great partnership with the academic arena and a strong incentive for the R&D team here at our Suretank Latin America site.

Co-coordinating the project will be teachers Alexandre F. Michels (Doctor in Steel Forming) and Oscar A. G. Suarez (PhD in Finite Element Method) and Suretank Operations Director, Giuliano Dal Bó. We wish all those involved every success.
